Syncopate

Mirrored in his own world, he is embedded in a dilemma. To face himself or run from it?...“Syncopate” is a musical term for a beat deviating from its norm, which to myself perfectly encapsulates the feeling of this image. Syncopation can stem from uncertainty and doubt, but can also be brought forth from confidence in artistic mastery. As such, the work embodies both worlds – the struggle to escape from your own doubts, the desire to pursue the beyond. The origami unicorn depicted is an homage to the original Blade Runner film that also grappled with this concept.
