22: As Evidence is a photobook and scroll-based project built from photographs taken during my time in China. Through everyday images arranged in chronological order, the work treats photography as both personal record and evidence, connecting lived experience to larger histories of movement, change, and identity.

“22: As Evidence is a handmade photographic book constructed from documentary images taken during the summer when I was twenty-two. Arranged chronologically, the work functions as a visual diary that records fragments of daily life as they unfolded, without imposing a fixed narrative. Rather than relying on written text, the project constructs meaning through the sequencing and placement of images, allowing associations to emerge through proximity, rhythm, and accumulation. The central premise of the work is that personal experience can function as a form of historical evidence. In an image culture increasingly shaped by artificial generation and simulation, the authenticity of lived experience becomes critical. While images can be fabricated or replicated, the conditions of a lived moment—its time, place, and perspective—cannot be reproduced. The photographs therefore operate as traces: not representations, but evidence that something has occurred. An accompanying scroll installation extends this idea, presenting images in a continuous sequence while compressing earlier moments. Together, the work reflects on how time is recorded, condensed, and carried through everyday life.”
