The Ribbon Trail

Environmental Design
2022
The design aims to revitalize the industrial heritage and encourage a sustainable mode of travel within the neighbourhood.

“As Toronto moved away from a manufacturing-based economy, issues of the industrial heritage appeared as the space now has no clear definition of its function and later became a natural garbage dump over time. The abandoned cars, machines, and garbages will take over the place, or the heritage buildings will be demolished to meet the evolving urban needs. As the heritage carrier of Canadian industrial history, the abandoned industrial buildings have experienced the different stages of Canada's industrialization process. It carries the forgotten memories of this land. The design aims to combine these memories with brand-new modules and the original building to create a modern urban cultural library.”
