In the structured, busy, and technologically advanced world we currently live in, the role and benefits of outdoor play that we experienced as children is being forgotten. Unfortunately, the act of play has become much more pre-set, secondary, and has been taken indoors, which has limited opportunities for the timeless, imaginative, outdoor play that once was. This thesis will focus on increasing children’s connection to nature through early childhood programs associated with elementary schools and a local preservation in Aurora, Ontario.
