Shadows of Their Sums

Photography
2020
Plastic wrap, Acrylic Paint
Applying Timothy Morton’s "Subscendence" as a framework, this piece investigates how intangible memories and physical objects become part of a person’s ‘sum’ or ‘whole’. I chose objects that I felt were irrevocably tied to a person in my life, and using plastic and paint, created an abstract, transparent skin of each one. I then projected the skins onto my back to more deeply explore my relationships with these sums and how they have affected me.
