PAT Award, PAT standing for Protect Amazon Trees.

“My professor asked each of us in our class to look at design for humanity and I chose to focus my final fourth year self-directed assignment on sustainability. After researching,exploring and reading about the many issues facing our planet, I chose to look at the impact of clear cutting forests without considering the devastating consequences of those actions on our global ecosystems. Through my research, the country of Brazil, it's leader Presidente Bolansaro and his government are worthy of scorn for their total denial of the effect of theirdisregarde for all living species on the planet. No amount of global pressure seems to to ameliorate Brazil's actions. Regardless, we need to reduce the impact of stripping the landscape of rich trees and vegetation in order to protect our oxygen and reduce the loss of trees so essential to all living species. Unfortunately Brazil's policies affect every living entity on our fragile planet. On the surface, it seems obvious for me as a graphic designer to design a set of posters, or document to show the problem to expose the issues. Sadly my research found many visuals done by many creative designers globally that haschanged the minds of Brazil's leaders. Nothing seems to shift Bolansaro'sand or his cadre's monetary strategy (corruption) for personal gain.Rather than creating another campaign to visualize the issue of Brazil's wanton disregard for the globe, I have chosen to create a memorial to the loss of all living trees, and to create an award to be given to the worst offender of deforestation actions in the world. Every year we need to single out those who show and demonstrate totally disregard for all living species who share our world ecosystems that are essential to all of us.My project is branded “PAT”. standing for Protect Amazon Trees. ”
