Looking At Black Queer Art Through Time

Essay
2021
The queer community is full of creative vision, powerful voices, and talented individuals. Yet in the modern media and contemporary art scene we only get a narrow view of the queer community and the vast amounts of people behind them who brought change and influence. Black queer, trans women and drag queen are some of the most prominent people not only in social change but in art as well. Throughout this work, a critical analysis will be taken from a comparative look between the history of black queer art and representation in contrast to contemporary media and art. How the community grew and their beauty ever-changing.
