Growing up I had the habit of collecting rocks. My pockets were always full of them and I remember a teacher warning me if everyone grabbed the rocks there'd be none left. This though has always oddly stuck with me. Much of my art practice has been using foraged items as both materials or subject matters, but I found myself wondering what would an art piece look like done in collaboration with land rather than simply of, or containing elements of a landscape. This piece is an explorative series where I spent time within the creek and made observation which then grew into a few experimentations evolving into the collective body of work

“After spending a week simply studying the creek I noticed a few sedimentary rock stones which were quite flat, I decided these would become the printing blocks I would etch into, create prints from and then return the blocks to their initial locations where time and weather would return them to their natural state. As one can image rough stones don't make the clearest printing blocks, but I wanted them to maintain their natural texture. The watercolour painting is actually using the algae and dirt and clay scrubbed off of each stone photos are of the location and respective stones recruited from each location. ”
