Watercolour pigment, yarn

This scarf was crocheted using a single repetitive gesture (chain stitches). The yarn was hand-dyed with watercolour pigments in warm shades which faded as the yarn dried, resulting in colours that reminded me of rainbow sherbet. This wearable "painting" combined gesture, process, and substrate, challenging the definition of what actions are and aren't painting. If the presence of paint is necessary, this is a painting.
