Ocean Wave

Installation
2021
100% Peruvian Highland wool, acrylic, nylon, polyamide, cotton and polyester
80 x 90 inches
Ocean Wave is a relaxing installation that provides sensory touch, sound and sight effects of the ocean waves. Four knitted textile panels made with two different yarns and colours are suspended to show an emulated ocean for viewers. Knitting and dyeing techniques have been used to show the possibilities of textile installation by using oversized needles. The panels were dyed in a natural colour palette of blue and purple with the technique of tie-dye with food colouring. The colours on the panels look like the refraction on the surface of the water. The panels are displayed between two walls and the floor, by stretching them at different points to show the form and structure of ocean waves. It is intended as a healing art piece to cheer up the viewers who are working all day long as a touchable ocean.
