Days when I feel Down

Painting
2025
My calligram invites the viewer to engage with the meditative rhythm of the poem while reflecting on their own experiences of calm amidst emotional turbulence. By blurring the line between the visual and the textual, I wanted to create a sensory and intellectual space where the identity of self, objects, and moments is fluid and open to reinterpretation. I wanted to use watercolours as my choice of medium because I feel as though they create and embrace what my poem represents, it flows in any way that it wants and can be interpreted in any way that the viewer sees fit.

“On days when I feel down I sit by the window I watch the wind shake the treesI watch bees land on flowersI close my eyes and soak in the sunlight Feeling the calm set over meOn days when I feel downI walk outsideI feel the wind in my hair I run my hands over the flowers I close my eyes and soak in the sunlight Feeling the calm set over meOn days when I feel down
