Animation
Mary-Rose Little is currently the story board artist and effectsspecialist for Dream Team Comics. She’s an artist and animator fromnorthern Ontario with an interest in animation based projections thatdeal with isolation, community and mental health. As a queer, disabled artist she wishes to spread awareness of learning disabilitiesand institutional ignorance.
“Every child with a learning disability is incredibly intelligent, butwithout the support and help needed to grow and flourish, they maynever realize their potential. Especially if the adults charged with theirwell being think and say otherwise. Big Enough Girl is a 2D animationdrawn and produced by Mary-Rose Little, a disabled artist fromnorthern Ontario. The work tackles themes of institutional ignorance, isolation, and discrimination when it comes to the needs of studentswith disabilities. By matching her own story with her hand drawnvisuals, she hopes to invite others to share their own stories andchange the way schools teach those who struggle to learn in thetraditional sense. Although the educational system has come a longway since the time Little was in elementary school, disparity stillexists. No child should have to fight for the right to learn.”
