UTOPIA Typeface

UTOPIA is the product of a semester-long exploration into designing a typeface, learning its anatomy, and producing letterforms that are successful individually and as part of a system. Despite its name, UTOPIA is a display typeface that is not meant to be perfect. It is a reaction and an ironic response to the rigidness, coldness, and need for perfection that we can see in the world and design. UTOPIA takes you by the hand and asks you to chill out for a second — to loosen up! To look towards a bright future, but have fun along the way. As a display typeface, UTOPIA shines as large headlines that demand attention and works for creative thinkers, designers, and anyone else who is at the frontier of making the world brighter, one poster, t-shirt, or album cover at a time.
