Acetate paper, Ink, Plywood
60 inches in diameter
Not a Window is constructed through digitally manipulated imagery of land, houses, and farms from village Chakali, Bulgaria, fixed to a wooden 60” diameter panel. This work offers a view of the physical landscapes and surroundings. When situated in a gallery setting, it is stripped of architectural associations and given new meaning in the realm of preserved memories and nostalgia of a place. Inspired by stained glass windows found in the churches and monasteries in Bulgaria, the piece is displaced and distorted, taking on a much more monumental quality.
