Maple Turning in the Spring May Breeze

Painting
2026
Watercolour on paper
22 × 30 in
A watercolour work on paper exploring atmosphere, seasonal change, restraint, and perceptual flow through recurrence, diagonal movement, and looped structure.

“Maple Turning in the Spring May Breeze translates movement through a lighter and more breathable register than the oil paintings. Repeated forms turn across the page like leaves, currents, or small bodies caught in air, creating a sense of motion that is delicate but insistent. Through watercolour’s transparency and restraint, the work holds change as something almost atmospheric: a shift in pressure, weather, light, and perception. It extends the concerns of Threshold into a quieter field, where transformation is felt through rhythm, suspension, and flow.”
