A series of self portraits exploring my own identity as a trans woman

“Identity Mirror is a series of self portraits exploring my own identity as a trans woman. It symbolizes the turmoils of being raised in a catholic household and the rebellion that comes after liberating yourself from such an environment. It is also an exploration of my journey with gender through a character of my own creation. The deer character pictured in the work is an idealized version of me, she is based around my own insecurities and desires, and she ultimately helped me realize I was a woman all along.
I originally Wanted this piece to be about my own identity and my own struggles, however with the recent wave of Anti Trans legislations and attacks, the work has acquired a new meaning.
The world needs to see us, we must be loud and clear that we are here to stay. We won’t sacrifice our existence for the comfort of bigots, we are not up for debate.
