The Signal

Painting
2025
Oil on Wood Panel
11" x 14"
An abstract painting composed of vertical brushstrokes, interminently laid through the composition so they're all visible, but form an ambiguous, warm-coloured composition.

“In the trudgery that is life, the characteristic monotomy and relative order that settles one to a schedule, to a definitive rhythm that lacks the spontaneity of being partly committed to something, it begins to seem as though one has moved on, and may coerce an outlook of life that's dull and narrow. Through this work I imagine life in a moment, with an interminent signal coming forth, from within say, the fog of uncertainty and fear. This signal may symbolize any number of things that come up in life, like a new job, a re-kindling of familial relationships, or larger life shifts like moving or marriage. The signal is not necessarily an ominous entity, nor a call to action, but a pre-eminent element to life, A shimmering background detail, which occasionally follows us.”
