Black Future

Black history is a wonderful but complex tale often overshadowed by negative events that occurred in its past. This past continues to echo waves of effect that affect the lives of people living in the present day. It's time to look to the Future. Black Future is a Sci-Fi / Fantasy web game. It's set in a hyper-futuristic Egypt. This project aims to examine issues regarding racial expression, identity, and creativity in a new way. To achieve this it is designed as a platform to celebrate young black creators and influencers; because they represent the future. Learn fun facts about them as you play and contribute to the dialogue on the website. The game is littered with visual metaphors that symbolize its utopia vision from the main character Raza meaning Hope, who is charged with guiding society out of its mental enslavement, to the forward running mechanic which symbolizes moving toward the future, despite the hurdles and enemies encountered along the way. The world design is also a symbolic reference to the glory days of ancient Egypt but with a futuristic spin similar to that of Black Panther which became the highest-grossing film of all time in 2018. Finally, the soundtrack was produced specially to combine the erratic grooves of West African music with a soft hypnotizing feel of electro music. The possibilities for new perspectives and a better world where everyone feels more connected would drastically improve our quality of life, that is the reason why we build a better future.
“Africa is believed to be the root of all human history and the oldest known human remains to be excavated here date back at least 200,000 years ago. This brings us to ancient Egypt (formerly known as Mesopotamia) which was home to the earliest human civilization.”
