“The first technique involves using thesoftware program Fusion360 and digital assetsfound on the Thingiverse5 website to create multipleversions of myself. These versions always had twoelements that reflected on the ambivalence of beingpositioned as Chinese and anglophone Caribbean. This can be seen in Guardians (fig.6) where I embedboth Foo Dogs and a rose window (a generalizedcathedral rose window reference) onto my 3Dprinted body. In this instance, my body takes on anunintentional sacredness as the rose window forms 27Fig. 6. Guardians, Digital Model, 2019Fig. 7. Maternal Family Shrine, 2015a halo around my body, and then the placementof the Foo Dogs adds additional weight to myshoulders. The perceived sacredness of thesepieces become autobiographical. I associatethe rose window with the Roman Catholic andAnglican Churches of my childhood, especiallythe memories of going to church with my popoand my mom every Sunday. Guardians (Fig.6)represents the memories of my reluctance ofgoing to church as I have always felt out of placein that environment”
