Yellow, Blue and Red: Identity and Stigma, a Collective Identity in Crisis
Installation
2025
The current tensions between the U.S. and my adopted country, Canada, triggered memories—though for different reasons—of the war on illicit drugs between the U.S. and Colombia, my homeland. The primary audience for this installation is the Colombian people; however, this work could be of interest to those seeking to understand the complexities of the Colombian identity. In the 1990s and early 2000s, our national identity faced a deep crisis. Our national identity was overshadowed by the stigma which linked all Colombians with narco-trafficking. This history of stigma and shared memory inform my work.
