The Future of Water World
Environmental Design
Due to accelerated urbanization has led to the construction of dense high-rise buildings, while leaving urban land resources sharply scarce. On the other hand, sea level rise due to global warming has increased concerns about the urban environment and is posing a growing threat to cities. Despite its size, Canada is inevitably confronted with both of these social issues as well. In this context, the rising sea level and the shortage of land require some new architectural concepts to be proposed to solve the problem. Therefore, most architects and some firms are trying to alleviate the global housing space crunch crisis by creating floating buildings, and the interest and concern for floating buildings are increasing. As a result, I also wanted to study floating architecture on water so that I could understand the difficulties and advantages of this future trend.
“We should think about the future of the building, in the design, we should not only think about the appearance of the building, but also combine the use of the building, space and light in order to give soul and temperature to the building.”
