Egyptian Consulate
Interior Design
2024
This architectural thesis proposes the design of an Egyptian consulate in Toronto that seamlessly integrates Egyptian cultural elements to evoke a sense of homecoming for Egyptians in the GTA. By prioritizing key concepts such as privacy, diversity, and community, the consulate aims to become a cultural connection for Egyptians living abroad, as well as a learning space for non-Egyptian visitors. Privacy is symbolized through the implementation of a screening mechanism, while the rich tapestry of Egyptian culture is celebrated through diverse aesthetics and displays. Additionally, the inclusion of a traditional pigeon home pays homage to Egypt's agricultural heritage and fosters a sense of community among visitors. Through thoughtful integration of these elements, the consulate aspires to not only provide essential diplomatic services but also serve as a welcoming sanctuary where Egyptians abroad can reconnect with their roots and feel a profound sense of belonging.
