KAFKA ON THE SHORE - Experimental Type Book

Graphic Design
2018
As a graphic designer, type is everything and everywhere. I was tasked to create a book, using only type and graphic shapes to visually tell a story. I choose an excerpt from "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami. At the time, I hadn't read the book, but I happened across the quote online and the poetry of the words spoke to me. The typography is my attempt to convey Haruki Murakami's thoughts on fate. The tiny little moments surrounded by blackness, the pounding questions, the points where chaos overwhelms and the points where chaos fades to stillness.
