Loss of Control is a narrative, single-channel pixilation film about a young man who has a severe tidying habit encounters a dramatic adventure regarding a total loss of control of objects themselves and loss of control of himself in a nightmare after a nap during the day. After he realizes it was just a dream, he is afraid of his compulsive behavior and tries to undermine such behavior, but a creepy thing just happens at the end. The whole film is made up of over 3000 photos.

“This work mainly reflects that people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, in my opinion, have a very painful experience, because they would do the same thing repeatedly, or tend to do one thing well and perfectly. This behavior is often nerve-wracking, even though they may get used to the compulsion. Making them change is more miserable. But the nightmare is what I want to reflect that compulsion is terrible and twisted. When things get scary enough, they might change and give up their compulsive behavior. I believe there are people with OCD who are reluctant to change and afraid of change while there are patients who want change and need change. However, for the plot at the end of the film, I added the design of scary masks appearing in reality from the dream, which would reflect that it was difficult for them to succeed in changing by themselves. This can be understood as a continuous cycle. In short, I still hope that the work can let more people accept and understand the inner pain and behavioral pain of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.”
