"Must we stay faithful, my brother?"The digital image’s success lies in its ability to condense and translate information. But also to convey that information at an incredible speed. What happens when we slow down those images? What happens when we view them with the time and contemplation that was traditionally associated with the work of art? And what can I learn about my work that undergoes this same translation?The video this work references is of Dr.Umar, a particular type of black rights activist/internet personality. It plays upon his “snow bunny” or anti-miscegenation ideas (the idea that the mixing of different racial groups through procreation and marriage is bad). These ideas interest me because they represent a kind of action that is seen from both perspectives as a loss of power. See video below for further Documentation
