Climate "Control"

This piece consists of a thermostat which reads “set to steadily increase above 2°C”. As our CO2 emissions continue to rise so will our climate’s temperature. The 2°C target proposed by most governments is insufficient in halting warming, and we are still likely to surpass it. How does this illusion of control influence our judgment over this issue?
