Sculpture
2023
yarn, fabric scraps,18"x11.5"x7.5"

“This soft sculpture is a self-portrait. The work represents me because each scrap came from something I once made or worn. They represent various memories and experiences I’ve had, all intertwined to create who I am now. I knitted intuitively and organically, shaping the object as I went along by adding and taking away stitches, picking up and binding off stitches, twisting, turning, and switching directions. The resulting shape is red, round, and has some mystery within. It is made of pieces that have found a way to be whole. My soft sculpture may seem like an amorphous blob, but I see it very much as me.”
