Exhibition view of the body of work produced for my thesis

“Speculative Industries has to do with labour, connectivity, and forms of re-/representation under a globalised neoliberal regime. Through the use of signage, construction materials, and text, my aim has been to construct a type of logical picture as an approach to addressing the commodification of immaterial labour and the ramifications of a fully manifest corporatised culture. My interests lay somewhat in the realm of signage as a potential for undermining exquisite values: co-opting the syntax of advertising and PR as a methodology of critique. The other main area of my investigation is the transition of goods and ideas from one place to another and how they are exchanged; this is expressed through the deployment of shipping pallets as transitory platforms and through text works referencing precarity, industry, and labour.”
