Acrylic markers on polyester vest
Throughout my art process, I did a lot of experimenting and found a new appreciation for ready-made work. I added the paisley print all over the vest very subtly using black paint on the black surface to prevent from taking away from the object itself. I felt like if I chose to paint the paisley in any other colour it would overshadow the fact that it is a bullet proof vest. I hold a lot of sentiment towards this piece because I have lived all my life with the constant fear of being shot or stabbed. I’ve always wished I was bulletproof.
