In today’s digital age, we are being exposed to the limitless capacity of the Internet that teaches us apathy, not empathy. The contemporary world is infested with both digital and analogue debris, and the technological developments “have conspired to bind us to screens as providers and producers of meaning, and consequently left us ever more distracted from material sweepings and leftovers of experience (Bell).” The technological developments made it easier for people to connect and reach out across the globe; however, it’s also been causing an increase in indifference among us and making it difficult for us to distinguish between what’s more important and what’s less. In the installation piece Miss, there is a mobile device set up on a plinth with its camera turned on, and a virtual ghost-like figure is wandering around the gallery space.
