Koi Fish (Intimacy Knows No Bounds)

Sculpture
2026
Glass beads, copper wire, copper sheets
9"x3"x4"
Two koi fish that swim around each other. They are created using textile and metal work techniques. The bodies are made by threading beads on thin wire and looping it through itself. The faces are made using silver smithing techniques (sinking and raising, chasing and repousee). The surface treatments are done through heat treatment and enamel.

“Koi fish symbolize many things surrounding love and family. One of their symbolism is unity and harmony in a family. In "Intimacy Knows No Bounds" they represent the general meaning of intimacy which is closeness and familiarity in a deep connection or relationship. The two fish swim around each other in harmony. There is a sense of familiarity as they continue to circle each other. ”
