"Rejuvenatating Urbanism" is a project that focuses on the conjugation of learning and living as grouped entities. It is a study in new urban living specifically for families who seek comfort and convenience in their lives. The apartment building also known as "35 Front St" in Port Credit was redesigned entirely, while giving tenants an entire communal floor to ameliorate communal and social living. The elementary school is a necessity and an asset for starting families in Port Credit. This beneficial allocation of a school and an apartment building does not have economical barriers, instead it is made for low to middle income families. This project aims to deliver a neoteric and unique way of living, while enriching juvenile learning experiences.
“Aging buildings and untenable landfill as a pre-structure calls for the need of sustainable design, marking such buildings with an expiration date."Rejuvenating Urbanism" focuses on the exploration of adjacent living as well as the shift in family accommodation and lifestyle. For centuries families have had a difficult time growing in apartment buildings due to the lack of consideration in design for such groups. My thesis project reverts this common developer approach equation by returning spaces to families and invigorating a sustainable relocation in lifestyle. The conjugation of an elementary school with immediate proximity to an apartment building is a study in experiencing life diversely, while preserving nature and keeping it intact through the minimalist use of environmental footprints.This theory of instantaneous co-living is a beneficial and respectful methodology towards the environment. Inasmuch the sense of initializing a complete community is proposed where urban settings are conducive and optimal. Lastly my thesis examines the convergence of a brand new way of learning and living for communities, giving residents an alternative vigor in urban life. ”
