This installation explores the beauty and precision of iris recognition technology. Inspired by the eye’s unique pattern which stays the same for life and contains over 240 recognition points. it highlights how this method surpasses fingerprints and facial scans in accuracy. The artwork magnifies the iris to reveal its galaxy-like details, incorporating a lens element to reference scanning technology. It reflects the future potential of iris recognition in areas like citizen ID programs, security, and law enforcement.

“The initial idea of the installation came from my research on the future of security technology. The Iris pattern of the eyes practically stays unchanged throughout a person’s lifetime. Each iris contains 240 recognition points, which is more than that of a fingerprint, or a face can provide. This unchanged Iris pattern makes it one of the most accurate biometric identification technologies. It is believed that it is highly difficult to forge identification data using this method. Normally Iris of our eyes is one of the smallest organs in the human body. Under a magnifying view, it is ravishingly beautiful as a galaxy. Here I upscale the eye structure to accurately project the hidden details of the human Iris. I added a lens-like element to resemble the camera lens and scanning technology using cameras. I believe that this technology will be the future and be widely used for Citizen ID programs, Physical access control Law enforcement, etc.”
