The integration of an outdoor theatre in the Theatre District adds to the sense of inclusion and functionality as a space that serves as a form of entertainment and caters to current appeals and all age groups. Although the visual representation of theatres has changed over time in terms of their architecture, and some cater to other functions, most, aside from outdoor theatres, still have a sense of privacy and intimacy. This should be embraced, although having a public outdoor amphitheater creates a sense of inclusion and liveliness in thespace. The Toronto theatre district caters to a few theatres, with most theatres located outside the district. Creating an amphitheater creates a sense of uniqueness and change that makes the district more accessible and appeals to the area's demographic. The vision is for this amphitheater to act as more than just a performance space. It would also include other entertainment departments that would aid in keeping the district alive and busy during other seasons when the Toronto International Film Festival or plays are not taking place.
