This form being my most obvious representation of looking, I take on a fetishistic approach to observation, an obsession with the rendering and recreation of an image. This is beyond what the apple is, but what it is to know it. This knowing happens through process—in the waiting, the slow building of a picture where the underpainting serves as an original light from which I work. A quiet presence that guides the entire image.
