You really can’t cough in public anymore, even if you get some saliva go down the wrong tube or you’re super parched from a run. People will immediately stare at you in fear that you have COVID. It’s weird to think that this virus has drastically changed the way we think and interact with people. We act as if everyone around us is diseased and that being less than six feet away from people is disgusting. How odd that masks are entirely normal and essential to how we exist in the world now. The thing about all of this is that it’s only weird when we sit and reflect upon it, otherwise, it’s such a casual thing now to avoid people and to have it be a social norm to want to get away from others. It’s changing the real life human experience—but hopefully not for too much longer.
“In this particular series, I’m heavily influenced by COVID and how it’s been changing the way we dress. I embrace the now-normalized accessories that protect us from the virus and turn them into fashion statements. From glamorous attire to casual wear, I convey the idea that this pandemic has been present throughout all seasonal events and that the mask and gloves are staying for the long run.”
