My great grandmother taught my grandmother and my mother how to knit. I taught myself to knit for my thesis project and decided to stretch a piece of knitted fabric. I call this a painting because that is what it is. I understand that it is made of fabric but it is also made by me and I declare this work as a painting. This painting reminds me of my generational history and where I need to be going. I need to focus on bettering myself, unlearning systemic racism, and implementing the new things I learn into the community.
