Seen, But Not Heard is a collection of interviews and a short film developed to explore mental health within the black community. Taking into account the nuances of religion, identity, family and racism, Seen, But Not Heard speculates on what it is that holds the black community back from freeing ourselves of the stigmas and biases surrounding the conversation of mental health in our community. This short film was shot in Milton, Ontario.

“This project looks to initiate meaningful conversation around the topic, hopefully creating opportunity for a more accepting and open approach to matters of mental health and wellness. The interviews are conversations had with black peers, exploring mental health and their relationship with it through the lens of Blackness.”
