Encaustic, India Ink and Wood Panel
18" x 24"
By trying a new technique of encaustic work this piece depicts a sort of self-portrait of myself and of other Indian women (in Sari) who were prominent in my life. I aimed to build on my identity as a person and artist and show my growth from before, during and after, into the future. I continued the process of gold lining the rings of the wood to show the continuation of life. Through this piece, I’m trying to show my desire to be one of those strong women like those before me and a desire to represent their graceful legacy in my life.
