NOT THESISWrithing was a study on self-regulating systems based on nature, which we created through algorithms that would output architectural interventions in different environments. I chose to biomimic the properties of a snake which contorted itself in 3 dimensions to traverse landscapes. For this project I fabricated the algorithm, and captured some forms with the use of a mesh, then photoshopped these to be structures and furniture in a blank environment. If you'd like a booklet, check out the pdf below setup for saddle-stitch printing.
“Writhing is the beginning of a multi-scalar project which seeks to bridge two locations through a hyper-sensitive but resilient skin, stretched overtop of shifting scaffolding which would allow it to bend around corners and blend into it's surroundings. When completed, I'd hope the algorithm and subsequent technology used to create it's components would be applied as temporary deployable structures that connect spaces with the aim of protecting passerby's inside from the elements & synthetic hazards, such as replacing scaffolding on the sidewalk, with something colourful and fun.”
