Water/Womb

Installation
2024
Water/Womb is an interactive floor projection that ripples and reacts to audience members walking through it. As audiences walk and move their body through the projected image, the water ripples and pushes the floating flower petal particles around. These ripples affect other audience members' ripples, creating emergent game-like interactions between strangers.

“Water/Womb uses a depth camera and custom TouchDesigner software to track people from the top down and use that data to affect a water-simulation shader. This was my first foray into shader art, and my first time experimenting with advanced TouchDesigner techniques such as blob tracking and depth cameras. The result is a wholly original and custom-written 3D blob tracking code component, which is fully modular and reusable, allowing for future iterations and developments with minimal work. ”
