Inspired by the teachings of Michel Foucault, on the practice of "photogenic painting".

“Three paintings, each one sourced from the one that came before. This series is based off a collection of abstract images generated using ArtBreeder, an AI-based image generating website. The reference image for Painting A was generated with a random source image. The reference image for Painting B was generated using the painting A reference image as its source, and the reference for Painting C generated using the Painting B reference as its source. This process was carried out as an experiment for "ensuring the transit of an image", inspired by Foucault's writings on the practice of Gerard Fromanger. The result is this small series of abstract paintings that contain many of the same shapes, textures and lines but still have great variance amongst each other.”
