The publication and posters are a guide through 10 parks in the Toronto area through a personal lens that aims to connect people further to nature in Toronto. Over the course of 4 months (January - April) 10 walks were completed around 10 parklands in the Toronto area. Each walk was to be at least 5 km long, using walking as a practice and following the ideas of the Situationist Group who introduced the idea of psychogeography and the derive. The derive or “drift” is a concept that discusses exploring the urban environment in a non-directed way, that is based on one's own reactions to their environment and space around them. The concept was originally introduced as a critique to the built environment but I have used this idea to respond to the environment of various parks and green spaces within a city. As a result of the walks,10 psycho geographic maps were created depicting my route, and the landmarks of the spaces that connected with me. Each landmark is numbered and briefly discussed on the posters with images providing an aid to the writing and illustrated maps. More in depth documentation and commentary can be found in the publication.
