DOWN is a 3d animated video consisting of a looping animation of a monochromatic and dimly lit hallway, intended to be presented as a single channel large scale projection.

“DOWN explores the cycle of behaviour that creates and perpetuates low mood and depression. Low mood disorder is the physiological and emotional connection that relies on and perpetuates each other, creating a negative cycle of habit that creates a feed and maintain depression and low mood. The viewer is given the effect of traversing down the endless hallway as it continually moves towards them. The two-minute animation is looped and has no finite starting and ending. The main inspiration for this piece comes from the cognitive-behavioural model “The Five Areas”. The Five Areas is a model used as an assessment to identify unhealthy patterns in someone experiencing low mood and depression. It is also used to help those suffering to identify key things that create unhealthy patterns.
