Museums often take designs from local paper makers and sell them on postcards which are massively machine-produced. This is a reproduction of hand-made items in an industrial version. Decorated gessoed canvas is a reproduction of a postcard that I bought at a museum in Florence. It is done on a gessoed canvas with no background color. Putting the same floral pattern in a different setting- made by an art student, how does it change the meaning of the content on the canvas. I want to explore what meaning the floral pattern carries in an art-making setting compare to the local craft stores or museums. This work raises questions about location, reproduction, and their relationship with people.
