Photography, digital print.
Portals, part of my Thesis; Star Dust, is inspired by details I notice in nature. Life is full of magical realms hiding in plain sight; microscopic view of cells, or the spirals formed by the bud and petals of a flowers. Rocks and pebbles remind me of asteroids and moons. When the sun shines on the waves of a water body, I see fire flies and stars dancing on the waves. With this particular photograph, I see galaxies floating around the waves.Start Dust is rooted in the Overview Effect; an overwhelming cognitive shift astronauts feel when they look back at the Earth from space. they see the Earth as one, beyond the range of politics and borders. Integrating Arabic calligraphy and Islamic references with striking visuals of outer space, Star Dust serves as a humbling reminder of our brief existence in the grand expanse and appreciation for The Creator.
