The project redesigns the vinyl cover, a promotional poster and wearable items for Jenny Hval's album “The Practice of Love“

“I redesigned the vinyl cover, a promotional poster, and wearable items for Jenny Hval's album “The Practice of Love“. The Practice of Love feels, first and foremost, compellingly humane. “The Practice of Love is almost subversive in its gentleness—a deep dive into what it means to grow older, to question one’s relationship to the earth and to oneself, and to hold a magnifying glass over the notion of what intimacy can mean” (Sources from: https:// jennyhval.bandcamp.com/album/the-practice-of-love) Why these designs?1. Apple from the story of Adam and Eve:images of fertility, creation, and desire2. Hand and arm bones: Represent people (people use their hands to create and destroy). 3. The hand tries to reach the fruit of desire (in this instance, love):The use of bones represents the past and our failed attempts to find love. 4. Soil, the half-buried arm, and an unfinished apple:Represent our greed and our inability to satisfy our desires. I chose to make tarot cards as my wearable items. I was inspired by the original vinyl design because it had some tarot elements. I wanted to incorporate these elements in my designs. Tarot captures time (past, present, and future). The cards highlight our future relationship with nature based on our current behaviors. We are still destroying nature and twisting the meaning of love.
