Created within Immony Men's Special Topics course, Asian Diasporic Media Praxis course, Where We Live is an exhibition that includes works by grad and undergrad students at OCAD University. As a group, we explored various themes related to gestures of cultural preservation, community representation, counter archives, family records, collective healing and diverse notions of belonging.

“'liaw 廖' intuitively maps body movement as a method to retrace oral histories and inbetweenness. Through the embodiment of my family name, 廖 (‘Liaw’), the work taps into the weight and fragility of plexiglass, as an understanding place for re-languaging transcultural existence; listening to the gestures of my dad and Great-Auntie Anne speaking Hakka to me. ”

“Motivated by movement and relationalities between humans, beyond-humans, and homeland, my practice investigates ideas of kinesthetic in-betweenness through the topography of the body.”
