beyond the tress

Inspired by post-pop landscapes, this work sparked my interest in layered landscapes and trees.

“Beyond the trees was the first painting to spark my interest in trees and the concept of layering images to transform space. Layering images to create an abstracted landscape opened a door of opportunities that deeply influenced my future practice. The use of digital collage was vital in the making of this piece, and has become a vital aspect of my practice since, allowing me to experiment in new ways. The limited colour palette was chosen to shift the focus to the ways the elements of the painting interacted with and merged into each other instead of basing my composition on the way the colours interacted.”
