“My concept stemmed from the theory of “loose parts”. Coined by architect Simon Nicholson, “loose parts” are materials that can be moved, taken apart, put back together, stacked, combined, etc. in open-ended ways. During my development process, I realized that my work's interactive and tactile quality elicits a touch response from all age groups. I think of my collection as play and comfort for all generations. The surface designs comprise my hand-torn painted paper collages of various fruits, vegetables, and flowers akin to ‘60s and ‘70s floral print couches. My collection is a contemporary take on my favourite design decades by reenvisioning elements I adore. The stylized imagery of familiar food is inspired by cherished memories associated with my childhood.”
